Daniella lives in Petach Tikwa with her parents, Orly and Ran, and her sister, Noam. Her family describes her as a vibrant young woman, full of life, light, sound, and love. Daniella majored in music in high school. She is a singer-songwriter who wrote and composed an abundance of songs, many of which together with her boyfriend. With the help of Daniella’s family, he is now working to complete and release those songs, in the midst of the terrible time they are going through.
Daniella was kidnapped from her army base, adjacent to the border with Gaza, in the early morning of Saturday October 7th. At 7AM she sent a text message to her mother, writing: “we are under attack. Mom, pray for me, please”.
Daniella was first announced missing, and only later was recognised as a hostage taken by Hamas into Gaza. Her family didn’t know her whereabouts until four days later, when they watched a video posted by Hamas, showing Daniella alongside two of her friends from the army base. “I keep imagining her walking through the door and thinking about how I would hug her," says Orly, Daniella’s mother.
Daniella and her boyfriend celebrated their 7th anniversary on Saturday. They have been together since they were twelve and a half years old. Orly shares: "Every free moment they had, they spent working on their songs. There are some songs that weren't finished until the end, and part of her partner’s therapy is to finish their production. They would be together all day and call each other all the time, and when he enlisted in the army, she was waiting for a date.”
Daniella's boyfriend asked her parents permission to marry her in the synagogue while they brought in a Tora book. They said yes, despite the young age of the couple. Immediately afterward, he shouted to the heavens, "I propose marriage to you." He prays that she will return and reunite with him and her family.
