Elyakim Libman

Raised in Kiryat Arba, Elyakim Libman is the fourth of eight siblings. His educational journey took him from Hevruta Yeshiva to participating in the HILA program, where he befriended Eitan Abraham Mor (23). Elyakim pursued further studies at the TELEM pre-military academy, then served in the Golani Brigade. Post-service, Elyakim explored culinary arts and worked in restaurants, eventually relocating to Tel Aviv.

Described by his sister Emuna as altruistic and generous, Elyakim's compassion extends from his culinary skills to sports mentorship for kids. Renowned for his intelligence and humor, he once protected a youngster from bullies, earning the family nickname "Robin Hood" for his intolerance of injustice. His commitment to helping others was evident when he endangered himself to save partygoers, embodying a spirit of relentless support and courage.

On October 7, Elyakim, serving as a security guard at the Nova music festival near Re'im, was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists into Gaza. That morning, he urgently informed his father, Eliyahu Libman, of the dire situation, emphasizing the need to assist wounded attendees rather than his own escape: “There are many gunshot victims here who need urgent evacuation; we are surrounded by the terrorists.”

Despite Eliyahu's efforts to reach him, Elyakim's whereabouts remained unknown. His actions that day, particularly rescuing injured individuals under threat, highlight his extraordinary bravery and selflessness. Elyakim, alongside his friend Eitan Mor, had saved the lives of many people at the festival. They were last observed determinedly attempting to rescue a hurt woman and her companion, despite the latter already having passed away.

Two of Elyakim's brothers, Elisha and Elkana, actively participate in the response effort, leaving messages of hope and determination to bring their brother home: "Elyak we are on our way" and "Bringing Elyakim home”.

On May 5, 2024, thousands gathered in Hebron for the funeral of Elyakim Libman, 23, who was believed to have been taken captive by Hamas on October 7, but was declared dead last week after his body was found in the grave of another massacre victim. Libman, a security guard at the Supernova Music Festival, stayed behind to save others when Hamas terrorists attacked the party, murdering hundreds and kidnapping many. He was killed during his heroic efforts.
On Friday 03/05, the Israel Defense Forces announced his death after his body was discovered mistakenly buried with another victim. His funeral took place at the Old Jewish cemetery in Hebron.
Elyakim’s family, friends, and community are devastated by this immense loss.
