Gali Tarshansky

13

Gali is a fun-loving child, extremely sensitive and a dynamo of energy that always brings joy to everyone around her. She loves to dance, listen to music, and watch Marvel movies. Gali also likes making TikToks, cooking and baking.
Gali is a brave girl who constantly pushes herself forward and never gives up on anything she wants. She enjoys spending time with her father, Ilya, driving off-road in the fields.
Gali is a volleyball player for the "Hapoel Eshkol" team. Her mother described her as a team player at heart, spreading energy and laughter wherever she can. She has loved animals from a young age and makes it a point to spend time every day at the petting zoo on the kibbutz. She adores dogs and has a special bond with them. Her dog, Mocha, was killed by Hamas terrorists as they waged a massacre, killing more than 100 kibbutz residents and abducting dozens from Be’eri into Gaza on Saturday October 7.
Gali was taken captive from her home on Kibbutz Be'eri that Saturday. Gali was in the safe room with her brother, Lior, 15, and their father, Ilya.
When the terrorists entered their safe room, they killed Lior as Gali and Ilya jumped out of the window. Ilya survived and was not taken captive. Gali’s mother, Reuma Aroussi Tarshansky, was in her own home on the kibbutz at that time.
The Tarshansky family didn’t know for two weeks what had happened to Lior and Gali, who were considered missing. They were devastated to find out that Lior’s body had been identified. Around that time, Gali was classified as a Hamas hostage. The two siblings were an inseparable pair, say family members.
On 29.11 Gali was released from Hamas captivity as part of a temporary cease-fire deal, 54 days after she was kidnapped into Gaza.
