Oren Goldin, born to Adi and Yair in Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak, was the cherished husband of Oshrit and the loving father of two-year-old twins, Aviv and Ilay. Growing up in Nir Yitzhak, Oren chose to build his own home there, contributing significantly to the kibbutz community. He was an exemplary father, always engaged in cooking, cleaning, and maintaining the household. Oren treasured every moment with his twins, ensuring each experience is filled with joy and love.
Professionally, Oren managed the kibbutz garage, extending his assistance beyond automotive repairs. Known for his readiness to help anyone with anything, Oren's garage has become a go-to place for those seeking help, highlighting his genuine care and connection to his community.
Often described as a true friend, Oren's presence lights up any gathering. He is recognized for his wit, warmth, and the laughter he brings. His commitment to his family and friends, paired with his kindness, makes him a central figure in his diverse circles of friends. “With Oren around, you know there's someone looking out for you, and making you laugh along the way,” his friends shared.
The tragic events of Saturday, October 7th, saw Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak facing a severe terrorist attack by Hamas. As a dedicated member of the kibbutz’s Security Squad, Oren was among the first to confront the terrorists in defense of his home and loved ones. In the battles, five members of the Security Squad were killed, including the kibbutz's chief security officer. Another member of the Security Squad, Lior Rudaeff, was taken hostage into Gaza, and at the time these lines are being written, he is still being held captive.
Initially believed to be kidnapped, the distressing news later confirmed that Oren was killed in battle. Alongside him, his sister-in-law's brother, Tal Chaimi, taken from the battlefield on the kibbutz, with their bodies being held in Hamas captivity.
Oren’s demise is an immense loss for the community and the Goldin family. Oren's legacy of love, friendship, and courage deeply impacts all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of his family, friends, and the kibbutz community.
The official message from the kibbutz stated: "We, the members of Nir Yitzhak, were blessed with a family member, a friend, a kibbutz member, without whom things are just not the same. On Saturday morning, 7 October, Oren left his home to protect the kibbutz from a terrorist attack. He chose to watch over his family, this time as well."
