Guy Gilboa-Dalal

Guy Gilboa-Dalal

22

From the Gilboa-Dalal family home in Alfei Menashe, Guy and three of his childhood friends ventured out together in the early morning hours of October 7th to the Nova music festival. It was the gang’s first music festival. The gang was: Guy Gilboa-Dalal, Evyatar David, Ron Tzarfati, and Idan Haramati.
Guy’s mother, Merav, recalls how incredibly excited Guy was about it. "On Thursday, Guy, his sister Gaya, Idan Haramati and I sat together at night and prepared for the party. We dyed our hair, sewed clothes, and stayed up all night. This group had been preparing for this party for months," she says about her son's friends. "They bought tickets together, met people who were supposed to come from all over the country. I don't think the word 'danger' ever crossed their minds, and these are responsible kids who stayed in touch with us."
The four friends from Kfar Saba fled, like many others, to their car as the first shots sounded - in what quickly escalated into a terrible massacre. The four got separated. Ron Tzarfati and Idan Harmati were tragically murdered. Evyatar and Guy were among the first to be reported as kidnapped to Gaza, in the early hours of that Saturday.
Guy was abducted from the Nova festival shortly after meeting his older brother, Gal, who managed to escape the attack.
A few hours after the attack began, with the flood of images and videos posted by Hamas terrorists, the family learned that Guy had been taken to Gaza by the attackers. "We have two videos of Guy, one where the terrorists snatch him from the party area and another where he is held in a small room," Merav recalls. "It's crazy; he's my child, my soul, my light, the soul of the house, and he's not here."

"Guy is the kind of person I can say with absolute certainty that when he decides something, it happens," says Jonathan, another friend of Guy, elaborating on his good friend's somewhat pedantic nature. "For Guy, the main motivation is love. If he loves something and is passionate about it, then that's it, it will happen."
"Guy loves anime, Japanese culture, and the Japanese language. We planned a trip to Japan in the spring, so he studied the language. It's very easy to see Guy's enthusiasm when it comes to Japanese. Automatically, his eyes light up, and something there looks completely different," says Jonathan.
Guy's involvement and interest in Japan and its culture also attracted attention in Japan. Japanese journalists stationed in Israel interviewed the family and presented Guy’s Japanese study materials. "The coverage was very supportive and not political at all, very much related to his hobbies and to everything that happened to him," says Gal Galboa-Dalal, the older brother.
Father; Ilan, mother; Merav and siblings Gal (29) and Gaya (16), anxiously await Guy's return. All of us here are waiting for Guy to come back home soon and fulfill his Japanese dream.
