Judith Weiss
Judith Weiss
65
Judith Weiss was born in Hatikva neighborhood in Tel Aviv. During her time with the Nahal brigade in Kibbutz Gilgal, in the Beit She'an Valley, she met Shmulik, and they became a couple. They married, had children, and later moved to live in Kibbutz Erez in Sha'ar HaNegev. As their family grew, they moved to live in Be’eri. Four of their five children stayed in Kibbutz Be’eri and established their own homes there.
Judith was diagnosed with breast cancer three months before the Hamas attack in October 2023. After her diagnosis, she began a series of treatments and had surgery to remove the cancerous tumor. She was supposed to start chemotherapy and radiation treatments to suppress the cancer.
On Saturday morning, October 7th, Hamas terrorists launched a surprise attack on communities and towns in Israel near the Gaza border. Judith and Shmulik were at their home on Kibbutz Be’eri. Their children, who also live in the kibbutz, took shelter in the sealed room with their own kids. Judith was kidnapped into Gaza by Hamas terrorists, while her husband, Shmuel Weiss, was tragically murdered.
In the family's house, a document that belongs to Hamas terrorists was found, listing phrases in Arabic and how to pronounce them in Hebrew, such as "I will kill you," "Take off your pants," "You are a captive," and more.
On November 16th, Judith’s family received the devastating announcement from the IDF, that Judith Weiss was murdered. Judith’s body was found during an operation by the 7th Brigade near Shifa Hospital in Gaza.
Judith and Shmuel’s passing has left a profound void in the hearts of their family, their friends and their community.
