Moran Stela Yanai

40

Moran is a talented jewelry designer who just started her career in the design world. Moran is the youngest of three siblings. She is a free spirit who just wants to do good in the world.
Moran arrived at the Nova music festival near Re'im to fulfill a dream of selling her creations. On Saturday October 7, as the sun rose and the murderous attack began, the terrorists stormed the party, and Moran contacted her family. From 7:00 AM, her parents kept in touch with her over the phone, and she informed them that "the terrorists won't stop shooting," and "we're looking for a place to escape."
Shortly afterward, her phone battery died, and her parents heard no more from her. Moran attempted to flee under gunfire. The group she was with dispersed and hid in the area, and at some point, Moran, left alone, was captured. On Saturday night, the family came across a video of Moran being held by the terrorists, calling her a "Jewish bitch". Moran was seen pleading for her life, and obviously terrified.
During the campaign for her return, Moran's brother, Leon, stated: "Such a thing should never happen anywhere in the world, and it must not be silently overlooked by the international community. How can it be that good people, who live their lives doing good without harming anyone, can just be abducted like this? The world needs to be shaken."
Moran was released on 29.11.23 as part of a temporary cease-fire deal, after 54 long days in Hamas captivity. Upon her return from Gaza, Moran underwent a lengthy rehabilitation process, after which she was warmly welcomed in her hometown of Be'er Sheva. Nowadays Moran is actively involved in advocating for the release of those still held captive, sharing her experiences from captivity. She shared in a video screened at a rally in the ‘Hostages Square’ in Tel Aviv: "I was a trophy. They brought people to see me from the outside so they could show off what they had captured." Concerning the hostages, she said: “Everyone must leave now; we need to unite and act together and do everything possible to bring them back home.”
