Sahar Baruch

Sahar Baruch

25

Sahar lived in Kibbutz Be'eri. After coming back from his big trip to South America, Sahar was planning to start his studies at Ben Gurion University in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
Sahar was a great chess player and enjoyed anime movies. He was sharp and smart and had a special sense of humor. On October 7th, tragedy struck when Hamas terrorists invaded the home of 81-year-old Geula Bachar. Seeking refuge in the safe room, Sahar and his brother Idan faced further danger as the terrorists lobbed three grenades inside. With the flames rising around them, they made the harrowing decision to escape, only for Idan, aged 20, to be fatally shot. Their grandmother Geula was murdered as well, and another grandson was injured.

Sahar, while attempting to retrieve an inhaler for his brother amidst the chaos, was then taken hostage by the terrorists into Gaza.
On Saturday, December 9, IDF representatives informed the Baruch family that Sahar was killed during an attempt to rescue him from captivity in Gaza. A special force from an elite unit tried to rescue Sahar during the night of December 8.
Sahar left behind his parents Tammi and Roni Baruch, and his brothers Guy and Niv.
Honor the memory of Sahar
