Segev is the middle child of the Kalfon family from Dimona; a “sandwich child”. His friends and family share with love that Segev always makes them laugh, and describe him as a man with a big heart.
Segev has worked for years in the family bakery, until he decided to embark on an independent path in the capital market. On Friday, Simchat Torah eve, he went out with his friends to his favorite leisure activity – a rave, at the Nova music festival near Re’im.
In the early hours of Saturday, October 7, during the violent assault by Hamas on southern Israel, Segev experienced a nightmare come to life. He managed to flee from the attackers along with his close friend Asaf. However, while they were crossing Highway 232, Hamas terrorists spotted Segev and abducted him. This incident was confirmed by his friend's testimony and further evidenced by a video showing Segev being forced into a pickup truck by Hamas terrorists.
Segev's devout family joined a Chabad mission alongside other hostages’ families to pray at the Lubavitcher Rebbe's gravesite in New York. Furthermore, his community in Dimona conducted numerous prayer sessions with rabbis and performed the challah separation ritual aimed at securing his freedom. Moreover, the family made a trip to Washington to attend a major rally in support of Israel, during which they had meetings with Congressional representatives.
Segev’s family and friends are doing everything they can to bring him back. We all are praying for Segev’s safe return home.
