Yagev Buchshtab
Yagev Buchshtab
34
Yagev Buchshtab and his wife Rimon were abducted together from Kibbutz Nirim. Both were born in the Gaza surrounding, and they established a home on Kibbutz Nirim, "full of flowers, music, and love for humans and animals," as their parents describe. They met while still in school, playing in the same band. They rekindled their relationship three years ago and got married two years ago. They live in a vibrant home, with five dogs and four abandoned cats they took in. These four-legged family members have also been missing since the Hamas attack on October 7.
Yagev is a talented musician. He studied sound engineering, and his main hobby is building unconventional musical instruments, a passion he shares with his brother Yuval. Yuval handles the design and planning, while Yagev focuses on the technical and electronic aspects. They enjoy experimenting with innovative music together. Another shared interest of the two brothers is good food and cooking.
Early morning Saturday 7/10 the family lost contact with Yagev and Rimon. In Yagev’s last conversation with his mother Esther, he mentioned that he hears people shouting in Arabic outside the shelter.
When the family went to look for them, they found that the windows were broken. The house was badly damaged, with signs of vandalism and shooting, but Yagev and Rimon were not there. They had been taken hostage by Hamas terrorists into Gaza.
Rimon was released from Hamas captivity after 53 days as part of a temporary cease-fire deal. However, Yagev is still held hostage in Gaza, and is family eagerly awaits his safe return home.
With heavy hearts, we were terribly sad to hear about the death of Yagev Buchshtab. After more than nine long months of eagerly awaiting his return, Rimon and the family received the worst news.
Please share your condolences with his family
