Amit is a beautiful young woman who spreads light around her. She is full of life, loves traveling, spending time with friends, dancing and singing. She runs a styling and dressing business. Amit is also a talented cook! She has recently reached the final stage of “Master Chef”, a cooking reality TV show which is currently airing in Israel. Amit’s audition was not broadcasted, as her family requested to remove her appearances from the season (filmed last year) due to the psychological difficulty of dealing with the airing while her fate remains unknown.
On Saturday 7 October, she was dancing at the Nova music festival near Re'im. When the terrorists burst into the festival area and started shooting everywhere, Amit called her uncle Shimon, who is like a father to her. She described how she hid under a vehicle and heard the terrorist approaching. Amit managed to tell him that she had been shot. Her last words on the phone were "No, no, no!!! I love you".
Amit was kidnapped on that Saturday by Hamas terrorists into Gaza, after being shot in the hand. A month after Amit’s abduction
On May 17, 2024, the IDF recovered the body of Amit Buskila and two other hostages, Itzhak Gelerenter and Shani Louk, in Gaza. The army reported that the three had escaped from the rave on October 7 before being murdered by Hamas terrorists, who then kidnapped their bodies. Gelerenter and Buskila were presumed alive until recently. The military announced on Friday that soldiers recovered the bodies of the three hostages from the Gaza Strip, amidst intensive fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas.
Amit’s family, friends, and community are devastated by this immense loss.
