Eitan Levi

53

Eitan Levi, a devoted father from Bat Yam, was a warm and loving family man. Committed and attentive, he prioritized the well-being of others over his own. As a hardworking taxi driver, Eitan was always eager to help. Weekend outings with his son Shahar, age 23, were marked by traveling and grand culinary experiences. Eitan had a fondness for animals and especially dogs. He had two German Shepherd dogs, Casey and Belle, whom he trained with affection. Eitan enjoyed music, especially songs by Project Revivo and Dudu Aharon, showcasing his vibrant spirit.
On the tragic morning of October 7th, when Hamas terrorists launched an assault on southern Israel, invading Israel from the Gaza Strip, Eitan found himself in the Be’eri area, amidst chaos.
Eitan had departed early, arriving in Be’eri by 7:15 AM, as reported by his son Shahar. Despite the unusual nature of the trip, Eitan had committed to driving a friend, noted Eitan’s sister, Sigalit. During their journey, Eitan told Shahar of a drone attack by Hamas, with a drone striking his vehicle.
During a phone call with his father, Shahar detected unsettling background noises and Arabic speech, ordering Eitan to get out of the car and go with them. The call, maintained for an hour, ultimately ended in silence with just Arabic voices audible.
Efforts by Shahar and Eitan's ex-wife, Aviva, to uncover his fate ensued, but to no avail. Sixty-two days post-incident, the grievous news of Eitan's murder by the hands of terrorists was confirmed.

"Before even turning 23, I lost my father, our family's pillar," Shahar said. Eitan, known for his supportive and playful nature with children, left a void, with his niece still searching for 'Uncle Eitan,' an explanation elusive to her young mind.
Shahar’s message to other families enduring similar ordeal is one of solidarity and hope, urging the nation to ensure their safe return and prevent further tragedies. He also expressed his hope that Israel will manage to bring Eitan back home for a dignified burial.
