Idan Shtivi
28
Idan Shtivi, from the Ein Hayam neighborhood in Haifa, is a student of Sustainability and Governance, truly a salt of the earth. He loves to travel and prefers spending most of his time outdoors.
Idan’s partner, Stav, describes him as a person with a quiet and profound presence who always cares about what's happening around him: his friends, family, animals, and the environment. He is full of hope for a better and more beautiful world.
Idan was among the thousands who attended the Tribe of Nova Trance music festival near Kibbutz Re’im. Idan is also an amateur photographer, and he volunteered to photograph a friend, giving a yoga workshop, along with another friend who was performing at the Nova festival.
On Saturday 7th of October Hamas terrorists crossed from the Gaza Strip into Israel and attacked the Nova festival attendees, among other towns and communities in the south of the country.
On that tragic day around 6:30 AM, Idan told Stav on the phone that they were just wrapping up. That was the last anyone had heard from him. Idan was listed as 'missing' for 90 days before being declared hostage.
“We hold on to hope” shares his father, Eli Shtivi, lovingly. “Idan is a person of true giving, from the heart, radiating a unique confidence to everyone around him, always putting others before himself. A truly special kid in every sense - his lifestyle, the path he's taken in life. It hasn't always been easy for him, and he's had to fight. Even now, with what's happened, it's as if he has a certain mission - and he'll return to us after completing it.”
Idan was about to start an exciting new chapter in his life: moving in with Stav. The couple even adopted a dog together. "We talked about how our home would look, and in the end, I entered the apartment alone and hoped every day that he would return to me.”
Idan is needed back home, and he needs to live the life he was about to start.
We are heartbroken and shocked over the loss of Idan Shtivi.
Idan was kidnapped by Hamas from the Nova music festival near Kibbutz Re’im on October 7, 2023. Idan came to the festival to photograph his friends, but never entered the party. As the attack began, Idan tried to rescue other partygoers, and then he disappeared. Ninety days later, it was announced that Idan was kidnapped. Exactly an entire year after the massacre, on October 7, 2024, we found out that Idan was murdered on that horrible Saturday.
Idan was always seeking ways to explore, contribute, and help those in need, never stopping his pursuit of goodness - even in his final moments.
Please share your condolences with his family
