Ilan Weiss
Ilan Weiss
56
Ilan, originally from Holon, was the eldest son of his mother, Miki, and the third son of his father, Avri, a Holocaust survivor. Ilan had a passion for working outdoors and with nature. In 1992, he began working at Kibbutz Be’eri, where he met Shiri. The couple married three years later and had three daughters: Meital, Ma’ayan, and Noga. Ilan cherished his role as a husband and father, dedicating himself fully to his family, with whom he shared a deep bond. Their family also included Ketem, their beloved dog of 10 years, who was brutally killed on 7 October.
The Weiss family enjoyed going on vacations and attending shows together. Ilan was a fan of ‘Dire Straits’ and the dance group ‘Lord of the Dance'. He watched every show they had in Israel, and once, abroad. In August 2023, they visited Budapest, where Ilan was thrilled to find his father’s childhood home.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ilan discovered a new passion for cooking, a hobby he continued to enjoy and share with his family.
At the kibbutz, Ilan was known for his versatility, sense of humor, diligence, reliability, responsibility, and willingness to help others.
On the tragic day of Saturday, 7 October, during the initial moments of the terrorist attack, Ilan went out to protect the place he deeply loved. Ilan was on his way to assist the emergency squad, but never came back.
On 1 January 2024, it was confirmed that Ilan was murdered by Hamas terrorists and that his remains were taken into Gaza.
Honor the memory of Ilan
Ilan was kidnapped by Hamas, and later his family was informed that he was killed.
