Noam Or

17

Noam Or grew up in Kibbutz Be’eri, with his parents Yonat (51), Dror (48), his older brother Yahli (18) and his sister Alma (13).
Noam is a friendly and responsible boy. Charming and delightful, he is usually surrounded by friends.
On October 7, the terror organization Hamas launched an unprecedented, surprise attack on southern Israel, what turned out to be a massacre in Be’eri and other communities. In the early morning hours, as Hamas terrorists infiltrated Be’eri, they broke into Dror’s house and shattered the family to pieces.
Yonat, Dror, Alma and Noam entered the sealed room. When Hamas terrorists set their house on fire, Alma and Noam jumped from the window and tried to hide elsewhere in the kibbutz, but were found and kidnapped. They placed Noam in the trunk of a stolen vehicle and Alma in the front, with eight other Hamas terrorists.
Dror was kidnapped as well, separately from his children. The terrorists murdered lovely Yonat. Oldest brother Yahli was fortunate to be at a pre-military academy and did not experience the horror.
Alma and Noam didn't know during their captivity that their father was kidnapped and their mother had been murdered. They stayed with another Israeli hostage and supported each other after experiencing harsh realities.
Alma and Noam endured 54 days in Hamas captivity before they were freed as part of a temporary cease-fire agreement, and were finally reunited with their brother in Israel. Liam Or, their cousin, who was also kidnapped, was freed under the same agreement.
A few days after his return home, Noam posted a heart-warming video, thanking everyone for thinking of him and his family, reassuring us that he is alright and already spending time with his friends, and declaring that they stay strong and are going to get through it all, once their father comes back home.

Noam’s father Dror is still held hostage and his family and friends eagerly await his safe return home.
For their father's 49th birthday in captivity, Noam and Alma recorded a heartwarming video message. "Dad, happy birthday, it's your birthday and we really miss you," Alma says, "You are truly missed here, we wait for you to return. I wish for your birthday that you come back to us quickly and have a happy birthday." Noam added: "We miss you, Dad, really looking forward to your return. It's hard to keep going here without you."
