Ofer Kalderon

Ofer Kalderon, from kibbutz Nir Oz, is the loving father of four: Gaya (21), Rotem (19), Sahar (16) and Erez (12). Ofer is a master carpenter who specializes in kitchens. He turned out to be a carpenter by chance, because in his youth he wanted to do something with his hands - and the kibbutz said they needed someone to fix grates, doors and cylinders. At the carpentry, Ofer likes to have friends over, always with a bright smile, for coffee and friendly conversations.
Ofer's main hobby is riding mountain bikes. He is also part of a cycling group and loves to ride together in Israel and abroad. Ofer loves to hike, fly model aircrafts and spend quality time with his family.
On Saturday October 7th, Ofer was kidnapped along with two of his children: 16-year-old Sahar and 12-year-old Erez, from their home on the kibbutz by Hamas terrorists during a surprise attack on Israel. The three were taken into the Gaza Strip and all contact with them was lost.


After 52 days of captivity, Erez and Sahar were released as part of a temporary ceasefire agreement. Unfortunately, their father Ofer remains a hostage in Gaza. Hadas, Ofer’s ex-wife and the children’s mother, is actively campaigning for his release.
