Or Yaakov

The Yaakov siblings from Kibbutz Nir Oz tried to hold the sealed room door shut, but were overtaken by Hamas terrorists. Yagil, Or’s 13-year-old brother, told them, ‘Don’t take me, I’m too young’.
On Saturday 7 October Yagil (13) and Or (16) were kidnapped from their mother’s home on the kibbutz. Their father Yair Yaakov (59) was shot by Hamas terrorists and kidnapped, wounded, from his house along with his partner, Merav Tal (53).
Yagil and Or were freed on November 27th, after spending 52 days in Hamas captivity, following a temporary cease-fire agreement. Merav Tal, their father’s partner, was freed the day after.
On 15 February Kibbutz Nir Oz announced with a broken heart that Yair ‘Ya-Ya’ was murdered by Hamas terrorists and his body is still held captive in Gaza. Yair will be unimaginably missed.

Yoni Goodman, one of the creators of the movies “Waltz with Bashir” and “Where is Anne Frank”, amongst other animated works, has created a short animation piece about the two boys. The animated short movie shows the hours and moments before their kidnapping, narrated by their mother Renana.
