Ran Gvili

24

Staff Sergeant Ran Gvili, 24, from Meitar.
Staff Sergeant Ran Gvili, who served in the Negev YASAM unit of the southern district police, was known for his quiet, humble manner of assisting many people, often doing so without seeking any recognition. More than anything, Ran was distinguished by his sincere concern for others. He had an unparalleled focus on genuinely listening to people, and he was always ready to lend a hand. Ran had a passion for motorcycles, enjoyed gatherings with friends, cherished moments with his sister and brother, and relished playing the guitar while sipping lemon arak.
On October 7, while on medical leave and awaiting surgery for a shoulder condition, Ran could have chosen to stay at home due to his health. Nonetheless, Ran was of the fabric of fighters, belonging to that unique breed of individuals who prioritize the welfare of others over their personal needs. Upon learning of the horrible attack by Hamas terrorists, which targeted innocent civilians with unprecedented violence, he immediately took up his personal weapon and went to fight. At 10:50 AM on that Saturday, Ran sent a last message to his friends, informing them he had been shot twice in the leg.
Ran was abducted after falling in combat at Kibbutz Alumim. Tragically, he was due to celebrate his 25th birthday on the following day, Sunday, October 8.
Honor the memory of Ran
Ran was kidnapped by Hamas, and later his family was informed that he fell in battle.
