Tamir Nimrodi

19

“To aid many; Nurture close relationships; Avoid causing harm”, these are the values that Tamir Nimrodi wrote on a note, found among his personal belongings; a reminder to himself. Tamir is the eldest brother to Mika and Amit from Nirit, a communal village.
Tamir served as an educational officer in the Gaza Coordination and Liaison Administration, embodying the essence of altruism and community spirit. Known for his infectiously joyful spirit, Tamir's life is rich with creativity, a love for cooking (and eating), and a keen mind for trivia. Sensitive and considerate, Tamir has a deep connection to tradition and family.
On the morning of October 7th, Tamir was taken hostage from his base, leaving a void of information regarding his condition. His capture, alongside 19-year-old Ron Scherman and Nik Beizer, turned into a profound calamity for the families when it was revealed that Ron and Nik were murdered by Hamas terrorists while held hostage in Gaza. "The devastation is immense. This isn't just another link in the chain; it's a disaster following a disaster” said Alon Nimrodi, Tamir’s father, when he heard the devastating news about his son’s friends.

Alon Nimrodi further expresses a relentless determination to intensify efforts for his son's release, calling on government and military leaders to reflect on the gravity of the situation if it were their children held captive. This plight led the Nimrodis to engage with senior officials to advocate for the release of all hostages, highlighting the state's moral duty to its soldiers and civilians both.
Tamir's story is a poignant reminder of the enduring spirit of those who serve and the unyielding hope of their families. As Alon holds onto optimism, the Nimrodi family's dedication to Tamir's return is unwavering, symbolized by the song 'Mom's Hero' (גיבור של אמא) by Raviv Kaner. A testament to their enduring love and hope for his safe return, they dedicated the song with these words: “Our Tamir. You are always on our minds. We know you'll return to hug us. Mom, Dad, Mika, and Amit."
Listen to Tamir’s favorite song, and keep him and his family close to heart:
